Multiplication fun

As I was browsing the Internet I fount this awesome lapbook on multiplication on teachers pay teachers, but I didn't want to pay the money for it. I looked at it and I found a good free alternative to it. It might not be as fancy but it does its job! It's a three side folder lapbook.

The first section is a multiplication game. It includes multiplications 1-5. Very self explanatory. You would need two or more game pieces, Depending on how many people play, and a die.
The second and third sections hAve multiplication wheels. I found the wheels online and what it is: they have the multiplication number in the middle and around it they have boxes, some filled some not. The child then fills in the missing number. I just added the colored paper on top to make it a little fun.

In the back I made a pocket to hold a bingo game I found online.

It will take some time to go to all the websites and put it all together, but it will be worth it!

I couldn't find the same website where I got the multiplication wheels but I found this other one that
looks the same :

Time to homeschool

This summer went by way to quickly for my liking. Now the time to homeschool is here. I put it off as long as possible and I think I'm ready. I'm still nervous and I know things might get a little hard as I try and figure things out but I'm looking forward to fixing all those little things that come up.

I've spent time planning lessons and  the more I do the more I get excited. I have also spent a lot of time on Pinterest (I think it might be my lifesaver) trying to find exciting things for us to do, from field trips to science experiments and great holiday crafts. I think that over all I am looking forward to spend  time together with my daughter and all the wonderful field trips! I live a short drive from colonial Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown settlement and a 3 hour drive to DC. So much history!

I also met up with a local homeschool group this week. The people I met seem really nice and it makes me happy. I feel that if I ever were to have any questions or were to need help I could ask one  of them. And that's important to me. I feel as if there is only so much I can read and do, having people there to cheer me on is amazing. I don't expect many people to understand why I'm doing it but as long as I know that is more then enough. I know that I will raise a wonderful young little lady.

Homeschool, the way for us.

Last week I made the life changing decision to homeschool.
My husband and I had talked about homeschooling if we went back to California but why wait?

Never before had I considered the possibility of homeschooling. And honestly I don't know how it came about. I realized that every time I ask my daughter what she did in school that day her answer has always been " I don't know." For me that is very frustrating. I would like to know what she learned. I love that with homeschooling she will get that one on one education. I can focus on her and help her where ever she needs help. We won't be bound to a classroom and we can take plenty of field trips to better understand a lesson.

It will be very different I know, but I think that in the end it will all be worth it. I would guess I only get 11 more years with her before she is off to college and living her life, why not spend as much of that time with her. Teaching her and making sure she learns good values, and learns how to be respectful.

We live in a society where girls are made to believe they have to be a size zero or they are considered fat, and if you don't wear a certain brand then you get excluded. A society where girls no longer know how to cook. I see young children all the time playing video games and don't stop to appreciate everything they have.

I know I'm not perfect but I want to help my daughter become a wonderful women. I want to teach her everything a woman should know how to do. It's not only for her but for my son as well. He will learn how to cook and be responsible. I want them to become wonderful people and I want to teach them they can do amazing things.
